I’m back and full of energy! My “time out” really did me a ton of good. I was a good girl and didn’t write at all during that time, but now I have lots of new ideas for future novels. Sam and Gabe come first, though, and I look forward to writing my boys again. I missed them!
And here’s something special to celebrate my return:
ATTENTION! WIN A RARE SIGNED COPY OF ONE OF MY BOOKS!
All you have to do is leave one (or more) interesting comment(s) some time during February 10th – March 10th 2014 anywhere on my blog. And while doing so, make sure to tell me that you’d like to win a copy. You can choose between Triangle – The Complete Series and Cafe der Nacht (in German). Hello my lovelies!
Happy New Year to all of you! May your days be filled with wonderful books and always enough time to read!
Since last year really took its toll on me, I’m in bad need of a break to sort my life back out. Which means that I’ll be away all of January 2014, and will do my best to remain completely internet-free for that period of time. The plan is to get plenty of rest, so that when I come back home I’ll be ready to dive back into writing.
Don’t be alarmed if you don’t hear from me during the next couple of weeks. I can’t wait to get back to writing FMIY already, but this is something I need to do. So be as good as you want to be, have fun, and dream of my boys until I get to write more! ;-)
You guys, I’m really glad the year is almost over and I made it through. It’s been one of the hardest years of my life. I lost my mother to cancer this spring, quite suddenly. We got the diagnosis only two days before she passed away. Dealing with this loss has been incredibly tough, and I know I’ve still got a long way to go until I’ll be able to make my peace with it. So if any of you also lost a loved one this year, my heart goes out to you.
What ultimately saved this year for me was finding a publisher for Caf√© der Nacht just when I’d almost given up hope. And to have not one, but two publishing houses suddenly interested in it was an awesome bonus! However, I never expected the book to do so well, and it’s been an overwhelming experience. CdN has been a bestseller at one of the biggest gay online bookstores here! And what’s even better, I’ve met some wonderful new people because of this novel. It’s been a thrill, readers contacting me and talking to me about my book. I loved hearing from all of you!
The only thing that makes me sad about it is that my mother didn’t live to see CdN published. She read the first and second draft of the book, and she believed in it so strongly she urged me to never give up on it, even when publisher after publisher turned it down. She would have been incredibly proud.
To wrap this up on a happier note, I’ve got two new novels planned for 2014, and I can’t wait to finish the one I’m currently working on to start with the next. Thank you all so much for making this year so much better than it could have been! Have a very happy 2014!
Like a lot of writers, I too like to listen to music when I write to get into the right mood. I don’t always do, but sometimes it’s fun. Finding the right music to go with Home For The Holidays was a bit of a challenge – there aren’t as many bitter, sarcastic Christmas songs around as one would think! But here are a few gems from my HFTH playlist:
Have Yourself a Bitter Little Christmas / David Ford
Christmas is a Pain in the Arse / The Accelerators
The Man In the Santa Suit / Fountains of Wayne
Santa Stole My Girlfriend / The Maine
Merry Christmas from the Family / Jill Sobule
That Was the Worst Christmas Ever! / Sufjan Stevens
Merry Christmas (I don’t wanna fight tonight) / The Ramones
Don’t Shoot Me Santa / The Killers
Christmas Is Going to the Dogs / Eels
Forget December / Something Corporate
Yule Shoot Your Eye Out / Fall Out Boy
Didn’t I Get This Last Year / Bob Rivers
Christmas Tree On Fire / Holly Golightly
All I Want For Christmas Is New Year’s Day / Hurts
Only a few days left to get into the Christmas spirit with my Triangle Christmas short story Home For The Holidays! You can buy it on Amazon, Smashwords, and AllRomanceEbooks.
Happy holidays and much love,
